Grounded: AR Hospital Wayfinding
An inclusive AR wayfinding system designed to help elderly patients navigate complex hospital environments using minimal spatial computing and directional haptic feedback.

problem
Public hospitals often suffer from 'spatial entropy'—years of ad-hoc expansions that create disorienting 'micro-mazes'. Traditional 2D signage fails in these transition zones because it is easily blocked by crowds and requires high cognitive load to decipher. For vulnerable demographics, like elderly patients using mobility aids, this architectural friction transforms routine medical visits into high-anxiety ordeals.
solution
Grounded leverages minimal AR and haptic feedback to map digital assistance directly onto the physical environment. Designed as a wearable system that clips onto existing prescription eyewear, it provides a hands-free, high-contrast visual path and directional haptic cues. This zero-friction service model ensures dignified navigation without the social cost of asking strangers for help.
