Vertical Bicycle Stand
A sustainable, space-efficient public utility product that solves urban bicycle parking challenges using vertical storage, modular bamboo frameworks, and multi-functional community features.

problem
Users in crowded urban spaces struggle to find safe, hygienic, and weather-protected places to park their bicycles. Traditional ground-level racks are highly space-inefficient, leave bicycles exposed to rain and heat, and offer no vertical storage options. This lack of integration between aesthetics, functionality, and modularity often leaves urban cyclists frustrated and worried about damage or theft.
solution
A space-efficient vertical bicycle stand that utilizes sustainable materials like bamboo and a thatch roof for weather protection. To ensure the physical design remains accessible, side horizontal stands are placed at lower heights for elders and children. The structure also integrates an advertising board, transforming standard bike parking into a multifunctional public utility.
Bridging Spatial Design and User Needs
Solving this urban density problem required a balance of architectural spatial efficiency and human-centered functionality. The project began with user surveys to understand the exact pain points of urban cyclists, revealing a clear need for weather-protected, space-efficient parking that still felt safe to use.
